Two farmers were hacked by their drinking companions in separate incidents in Pagudpud and Vintar, Ilocos Norte.

In Pagudpud, a farmer died on the spot after a heated argument with another farmer turned into a deadly knife fight.

According to police, the two had a long-standing dispute that escalated while they were drinking.

The suspect, who also sustained injuries, was taken to the hospital and will face charges.

In Vintar, another farmer suffered deep wounds on his neck, ear, and arm after being attacked by a drinking companion.

Police said the victim had hurt another person at the gathering, causing the suspect to intervene.

The victim got angry, leading the suspect to go home, retrieve a sword, and return to attack him.

The victim is now recovering in the hospital, while the suspect surrendered to the police, bringing the weapon with him. He will face charges of frustrated homicide.
