A couple who taught at the Iloilo City National High School (ICNHS) and their daughter of minor age died in a fire that broke out in Barangay Infante, Molo District.
Their co-teachers have honored the memory of their colleagues in a tribute morning on March 10, 2025.
“Ang pagkabig namon sa isa kag isa daw pamilya bala. That’s why nga daw indi namon mabaton kay isa sila sa mga close did namon sa City High,” Ramil Huyatid, a co-teacher, said.
Huyatid said that the casualties are teachers of the Special Program for the Arts.
The fire broke out on March 9, 2025. According to SFO1 Denmark Macoco, arson investigator, the fire left behind approximately P270,000 in damages.
As of this writing, Macoco is yet to determine the cause of the fire. He said that the couple and their daughter were trapped inside the burning house.
"Ang isa nga ginalantaw namon, sang pag-discover nila sang sunog, dako na kag at the same time ang isa nga ginalantaw nga posible ginhalinan didto gid sa ila exit nga amo man ang access para makapanaog sila sa hagdan. Pero ang witnesses nagahambal nga bugtaw naman sila kag nagapangayo tabang, unfortunately ang ila bentana may steel matting,” Macoco said.
He added that it took the firefighters 30 minutes to control the fire.
