A fire that broke out at the boundary of Barangay San Roque, Talisay City and Barangay Inayawan, Cebu City destroyed close to 40 houses.

The fire struck at 3:48 p.m. on March 8, 2025, and started reportedly at the house owned by a certain “Beverly” in Sitio Laray, Barangay San Roque.

The fire spread quickly because the houses were made mostly of light materials, and that the area is densely populated.

The narrow passageways to the area also hampered the access of firefighters who had to link their firehoses to reach the location.

The fire was raised to second alarm.

Damages reached P1.5 million, according to the Talisay City Fire Station.

A total of 37 houses were damaged while four other houses were damaged partially.

At least 41 families or 211 individuals were affected by the fire incident.

As of this writing, the cause of the fire is being investigated.

One of the reasons that the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) is looking into is a report on children who were cooking but left it unattended, according to FO2 Mar Dee II Auxtero, fire investigator at the Talisay City Fire Station.

No casualty or injury was reported.

Meanwhile, the City Government of Talisay put up modular tents immediately at the San Roque Gym as temporary shelter for fire victims.

Distribution of pack meals to victims was facilitated on March 8, 2025.

The Talisay City Social Welfare Services (CSWS) also conducted assessment for the financial assistance and housing materials.
