Two persons died on the spot after the motorcycle they were riding collided with a passenger bus on Manila North Road, Barangay Nancayasan in Urdaneta City, Pangasinan.
Closed circuit television (CCTV) captured the the crash and showed how the victims got dragged by the bus.
Both riders suffered from severe injuries, which led to their deaths.
Police said the victims came from a bar nearby before they met the accident.
"Base po doon sa narrative ng mga witness, galing po sila sa isang malapit na beer house, doon po sa Barangay Nancayasan. As a result po nung aksidente, ito pong dalawang pasahero natin na lulan nitong motorsiklo, dead on the spot po,” PLTCOL. Rommel Bagsic, Urdaneta City Police Chief, said.
The bus driver surrendered to authorities after the crash but was released later. He has not yet issued a statement.
The families of the victims declined to comment, and discussions between the two parties ongoing, as of this writing.
Police have reminded motorists to avoid drunk driving and wear protective gear when riding motorcycles.
“Mag-ingat po tayo, iwasan po natin magmaneho ng nakainom. At kung magmamaneho ng motor at hindi po maiwasan, magsuot po tayo ng mga protective gear,” Bagsic added.
