The City Government of Cebu has focused tightly on remedies to the city’s reported rising cases of dengue.

Based on data received by Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia, Cebu City has logged a total of 223 dengue cases in February 2025, posting 8.25 percent increase compared to the 206 cases recorded in January 2025.

The figures are deemed higher by 121.5 percent at only 93 cases logged in January 2024, and by 123 percent higher at only 100 cases in February 2024.

Despite the rise in dengue cases, there is no cause yet to declare a health emergency in the city, the mayor said.

Cebu City has implemented dengue prevention programs such as environmental management, community involvement, campaign awareness on the risk of the viral infection, and cleanups of places deemed breeding grounds of mosquitoes.

On top of these programs is the constant reminder to seek immediate medical consultation at the onset of signs or symptoms.
