A 33-year-old man was caught in a closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage to have pulled the fuel hose of a gasoline station in Minglanilla town, Cebu and sprayed fuel deliberately worth nearly P3,000.
Based on the footage, the man arrived at a gasoline station in Barangay Poblacion Ward 2 early in the morning on March 6, 2025.
The suspect was identified only as a certain “Mamerto.”
According to the Minglanilla Police, Mamerto arrived at the gas station and challenged persons in the area to a fistfight.
Witnesses said that the suspect pulled a fuel hose from its pod and sprayed gasoline recklessly.
The amount of fuel that the suspect wasted reached P2,556, according to the authorities.
During the police response, the suspect reportedly tried to resist. He was handcuffed immediately.
GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak tried to seek a comment from the suspect inside the custodial cell of the Minglanilla Police Station but he refused to grant an on-camera interview.
However, he told the news team that he has no idea why he did the act. He said he was not drunk or under the influence of illegal drugs.
Charges for alarm and scandal, resistance and disobedience to person in authority, and malicious mischief have been filed against the suspect.
