Supporters of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte (FPRRD) in Cebu City converged immediately after a warrant of arrest issued by the International Criminal Court was served for Duterte's alleged crimes against humanity during his administration's war on drugs.

The supporters went emotional in their gathering evening on March 11, 2025.

However, families of persons who died in alleged extrajudicial killings (EJKs) in relation to the Duterte administration's war on drugs rejoice over his arrest.

Supporters gathered at the Plaza Independencia, sang songs on nationalism, and lighted candles as a prelude to a prayer vigil.

Among them are Nancy Tapolado, a staunch supporter, and Pam Baricuatro, a gubernatorial candidate in Cebu Province.

Tapolado and Baricuatro, among other supporters, were emotional in expressing that they are hurt by the incident.

During the candle-lighting activity, they also recited the Holy Rosary in unison, offered prayers for Duterte's wellbeing and for the country.

In a separate venue, members of cause-oriented groups staged a protest at about 5 p.m. on March 11, 2025.

The groups were seen outside of the Fuente Osmeña Circle in midtown Cebu City.

They said they welcome the arrest of Duterte, citing that he should answer for incidents of EJKs under his watch, according to Jaime Paglinawan, secretary general of Bayan Muna Central Visayas.
