Four construction workers were injured in a brawl that reached a boarding house on the eve of a barangay fiesta in Gua-an, Leganes town, Province of Iloilo.

Jalousies were destroyed, including belongings, after over three persons entered forcibly the boarding house.

The incident happened at about 1 a.m. on March 15, 2025.

According to police investigation, the fracas on the ‘visperas’ (eve) of the barangay feast involved the group of alias "Ice," 22 years old, from Bacolod City. It was reported that the group were in a social dance inside the gymnasium but had a fight with other men because of a woman.

When Ice went out of the gym, unidentified perpetrators punched him. A closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage showed Ice asking help from his father and an uncle.

A brawl ensued outside of the gym that later on reached a boarding house.

Irene Toos, deputy chief of the Leganes Municipal Police Station, said.

The four construction workers sustained wounds on different parts of their body.

The perpetrators used an ice pick and a knife in stabbing the victims.

Aside from the stabbing, the victims were reportedly bashed with rocks.

As of this writing, Ice was discharged already from the hospital. However, when a barangay councilman responded to the incident, the victims were found to have wielded knives.

At iyon nga, lumala pa,” Gerald Soldevilla, Barangay Gua-an councilman, said.

Further, it was learned that the victims and the rest involved in the brawl were all drunk.

A case for frustrated homicide will be filed by the police against the persons of interest.

Following the incident, the owner of the boarding house expressed worry. She said that the incident results in business losses as tenants have started leaving after the incident.
