A wounded gray-faced buzzard was rescued in Lasam, Cagayan, after it was reportedly shot with an air gun.

The bird suffered a wound to the chest, which pierced through its underarm and right wing.

A concerned resident found the struggling raptor near a dam and turned it over to a wildlife rescue team for first aid.

Authorities discovered maggots in the wound, suggesting the bird had been injured for several days.

The bird has since been turned over to the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) and is now in stable condition.

Authorities have urged hunters to avoid harming endangered species like the rescued eagle.
