A 4-year-old girl drowned while swimming with her family at the Bislak River in Vintar, Ilocos Norte.
Investigators said the child was bathing in the river when her father noticed she had gone missing. The family called for help, prompting a search by the police and local disaster response teams.
After 10 minutes, rescuers found the child 15 meters away in the deeper part of the river.
She was rushed to the rural health unit but was declared dead on arrival.
Authorities reminded the public to stay alert and watch children closely while swimming to prevent drowning incidents.
