The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in Lapu-Lapu City has sent a notice to three senatorial candidates for posting illegal campaign materials.

The campaign posters were placed in non-COMELEC designated common poster areas.

According to Atty. Ann Janette Lamban, election officer of COMELEC Lapu-Lapu City, that after two notices to the same persons for the same offense, the next step would be to file a complaint for disqualification.

On April 3, 2025, COMELEC Lapu-Lapu along with the Lapu-Lapu City Police and the Department of Public Works and Highways facilitated once more an “Oplan Baklas” (removal) in various locations where campaign paraphernalia have been posted, mounted, and hung from trees, utility poles, skywalks, government structures, or outside of designated areas, despite the constant reminders of COMELEC that such is inappropriate, illegal, and unlawful.

Meanwhile, at least 301 ballot boxes along with batteries and voter-verified paper audit trail arrived afternoon on March 31, 2025, though COMELEC Lapu-Lapu City may have to wait for the arrival of voters information sheets.
