Bus companies in Dagupan City are preparing for a surge in passengers as Holy Week approaches, with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) approving over 50 special permits for additional bus routes from April 11 to April 20, 2025.

“‘Yung mga special permit mahalaga ‘yan kasi magagamit namin ‘yan sa iba’t ibang ruta namin,” Robert Silvestre, a terminal master, said.

The highest volume of passengers is expected to start on April 15.

To accommodate the influx, standby buses will be deployed to ensure that travelers, especially those waiting along the roads, can secure a ride.

“Dapat talaga maraming bus kasi kawawa ‘yung mga walang sasakyan, umaasa lang sa bus tapos walang bus,” Cesar Maynigo, a traveler, said.

Meanwhile, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Dagupan City will launch Oplan Ligtas Biyahe and Oplan Lakbay Alalay on April 11.

Assistance desks will be set up on major roads to help motorists.

Following reports of road rage incidents, LTO urged drivers to remain calm, especially with the expected heavy traffic.

“Panawagan namin sa mga bibiyahe na maging maingat at kalmado lang para sa kaligtasan ng lahat,” Romel Dawaton, head of LTO-Dagupan City District Office, said.
