Up to 3,700 personnel from various units under the Safety and Security Cluster will be deployed in Davao City during the Holy Week.
These personnel will be stationed in churches and other areas of convergence, especially that it is a long holiday break.
However, authorities reminded the public to avoid visiting protected areas.
“May mga areas ta sa mga hinterlands nga ginabawal man gud ang bisita. Pero kung dili nimo bantayan, actually ang magbantay ang atoang barangay kauban ang bantay-bukid nato kay katong protected areas, dili dapat ma exploit,” Davao City Public Safety and Security Office (PSSO) Chief, Angel Sumagaysay, said.
PSSO has already received a letter from the Archdiocese of Davao for the coordination meeting on April 7 regarding Holy Week activities.
These activities include:
April 13 – Palm Sunday April 14-16 – Recollection and Confession April 17 – Chrism Mass and Adoration April 18 – Stations of the Cross April 19 – Easter Vigil April 20 – Easter Sunday
Meanwhile, security personnel will also be deployed to beaches and inland resorts.
The Coast Guard Davao Station is set to activate its “Oplan Biyaheng Ayos” for the Holy Week. K9 units and medical teams will be stationed at ports as influx of travelers is expected.
“Lahat ng mga pantalan ay nilalagyan namin ng help desk lalong lalo na ngayong parating na Semana Santa,” Coast Guard Davao Station Operations Officer, Ens. Ronald John Garcia, said.
