A member of the LGBT community who was allegedly drunk fell from a yet unfinished terrace, and got snagged in a steel bar that pierced her shoulder.

The steel bar protruded from an adjacent house said to be abandoned.

The incident happened in Sitio Crusan, Barangay Bulacao, Talisay City, Cebu dawn on April 6, 2025.

The rescue performed by members of the Bulacao Lifecare Emergency Team (Bullet), Talisay City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), and the Talisay City Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) took nearly two hours.

It was reported that the steel bar pierced through the lower portion of her right shoulder.

BFP rescuers used a hydraulic cutter to have the other end of the steel bar severed.

According to the 35-year-old victim’s girlfriend, Belle Cabudbud, “Jumavel” came home  from a reunion with fellow athletes in high school. When “Jumavel” went up to Belle's room, the latter heard a loud thud and Jumavel groaning in pain.

It was learned that Jumavel went to the terrace that is still under construction, to vomit, but a barrier placed temporarily to cover the gap was not strong enough to pad the fall.

The incident happened past 1 a.m.

The adjacent house where Jumavel had fallen into is said to be abandoned after it was destroyed by a fire.

Jumavel fell from a height of approximately 11 feet.

As soon as the other end of the steel bar was cut, Jumavel was taken immediately to the hospital for the removal of the bar.

Jumavel’s family could not blame anyone on the incident and cited that it was an accident.
