Over 30 houses were destroyed in a fire that broke out in Sitio Lumboy, Barangay Inayawan, Cebu City.

Based on data from the Cebu City Fire Office, over 30 houses were razed while eight houses were damaged partially.

According to the Cebu City Social Welfare Office, the fire displaced a total of 61 families or 234 individuals.

Firefighters received the alarm past 2 p.m. on April 5, 2025.

The fire was raised to first alarm. After over an hour of firefighting, the fire was declared under control.

Damage left behind by the fire was estimated at P700,000.

A 38-year-old woman was reported to have sustained second-degree burns. She was said to be the owner of the house where the fire broke out.

Several fire victims, such as Vivian Bolinar, 63 years old, were not able to save any of their belongings as they fled to safety immediately while the fire spread quickly.

Firefighters had to connect their hoses to reach the site at an interior portion.

Residents, such as Elizabeth Antipolo, tried to help by fetching water from a well to help douse the fire. 

Most of the houses in the affected area were made of light materials.

As of this writing, fire investigators are delving into the cause of the fire.

Meanwhile, Barangay Inayawan and the Cebu City Government have distributed immediate assistance to the victims.
