Separate accidents involving motorcycles have claimed the lives of two people in Pangasinan and Ilocos Norte.
In San Fabian, Pangasinan, a man was found unconscious and injured badly along the diversion road in Barangay Longos.
Responders rushed him to the hospital, but he died later.
According to authorities, the victim crashed into a barrier while navigating a sharp curve on board his motorcycle.
“Siya'y nagmamaneho ng motor, and allegedly nakainom, then sa may sharp curve, aksidenteng tumama doon sa may barrier at tumilapon doon sa may bukid, sa may calamansi plantation. At nagsustain sya ng severe head injury,’” PCpt. Leoffrey Sapi, Deputy Chief of Police of San Fabian, said.
The victim was identified as 43-year-old Narciso Broquin Garcia III, a resident of Barangay Palua in Mangaldan, Pangasinan, and worked as a security guard.
His family said he had just visited the beach and was heading home when he figured in the accident.
“‘Lahat ng residente doon, komo malayo sa kabahayan, hindi nila nakita. Walang nakakita. Bigla na lang may napadaan na concerned citizen na nagreport sa San Fabian,’” Narciso Broquin Garcia Jr., the victim's relative, said.
In Solsona, Ilocos Norte, a 16-year-old girl also died after her motorcycle crashed into a Narra tree.
Police said the victim had argued with her boyfriend and took off with the motorcycle before the crash.
The strong impact threw her off the vehicle and landed hard on the road.
She was brought to a hospital nearby but was declared dead on arrival.
Authorities continue to remind motorists to avoid speeding and always wear protective gear when riding.
