A late-night gun attack in Marilao, Bulacan left two people dead after an unidentified gunman opened fire on motorcycle riders just meters from their rented home in Barangay Lambakin.

The victims, a 34-year-old man and a woman believed to be in her 20s, were shot past 11 p.m.

Witnesses said they heard multiple gunshots, but were too afraid to check immediately.

“May narinig po kaming sunod-sunod na putok ng baril... hindi kami basta basta lumapit kasi baka mamaya andoon pa bumaril eh,” a resident said.

Initial police investigation showed that the victims were headed home when the attacker—also on a motorcycle—shot them from about five meters away.

The suspect wore a black long-sleeved shirt and a mask.

Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) found 38 sachets of suspected shabu inside the male victim’s shorts and a gun tucked into his waistband.

Police also recovered two cell phones, drug paraphernalia, and nine bullet casings from the scene.

Authorities have launched a follow-up operation to pursue leads and determine if the shooting was drug-related.

Barangay officials said the victims had lived in the area only for two weeks.

“Hindi po namin masyado kilala yung mga tao na ‘yon... dalawang linggo pa lang sila nakatira d’yan,” Joseph Yapit, Barangay Lambakin BPSO Team Leader, said.
