Four active soldiers were arrested after allegedly violating the nationwide gun ban in San Simon, Pampanga.

The arrest happened after a concerned citizen reported a suspicious vehicle that had been reportedly tailing him for five days between San Simon and Valenzuela City.

Authorities later spotted the same vehicle near the Global Aseana Business Park 1 in Barangay San Isidro.

Police operatives followed the vehicle and caught up with it at a gas station nearby. When the officers introduced themselves, one of the suspects pulled out a gun allegedly and tried to escape.

A brief chase ensued along Quezon Road in Barangay San Isidro, where police were able to arrest the suspects. One of them sustained a gunshot wound to the neck and was taken to the hospital.

Authorities recovered two firearms and several bullets from the suspects.

According to the Police Regional Office 3, the election gun ban applies to everyone — regardless of rank, position, or organization — with no exemptions.

As of this writing, police are still investigating the full extent of the suspects’ activities and whether they are connected to other criminal groups.
