A netizen was sued for alleged fake, misleading post.
To recall, it was in March 2025 when a skywalk on the highway of Barangay Umapad, Mandaue City was inaugurated to replace a damaged skywalk that was rammed into by a truck.
The new project was reported to have cost P20 million, including the installation of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras and solar panels.
A netizen shared and reacted to a statement that was manipulated allegedly to appear as though Congresswoman Lolypop Ouano-Dizon said that those who are not happy with the project may not use it, and that the skywalk is only for persons who approve of it.
Earlier, the congresswoman informed about a fake statement that circulated and urged netizens to conduct their own fact-checking.
The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Central Visayas filed a case for violation of the Cybercrime Prevention Act against the netizen identified as Redmon Colina.
Colina showed up at the NBI to issue his statement.
Meanwhile, in a communication done by GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak to Colina, he did not comment on the case but surmised that politics could be behind the complaint as he has also filed a case for oversized campaign materials.
