Thousands of travelers flocked to various bus terminals across Mindanao on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, the day before the start of the Holy Week break.
Passengers lined up early morning at the Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT) and the 30-minute interval policy of bus trips was no longer followed as buses will leave immediately as soon as they are full.
Inspections are also strictly conducted at the terminal.
Bus drivers were reminded not to pick up passengers along the road in the city.
“Ang no pickup policy gina-implement gihapon na nato tungod kay wala na na-amyendahan,” DCOTT Manager, Aisa Yusop, said.
DCOTT said around 50,000 to 85,000 passengers are expected to flock at the terminal and online booking is still accessible.
“Naa gihapon ang atong online booking dcott fmod page para mo-avail ta sa online booking. Makita nato diha kung unsa nga mga buses, kung asa ang ruta ug pila ang pagabayaran,” Yusop added.
In General Santos City, passengers also trooped to the Bulaong Public Bus Terminal to spend the Holy Week in their provinces.
A medical team and assistance desk were also on standby.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) also offered free water for travelers.
Meanwhile, police officers in Cagayan de Oro City secured the East Bound Bus Terminal to ensure the safety of passengers.
Personnel of the Land Transportation Office-Northern Mindanao (LTO-10) were also deployed at the terminal to check the condition of the buses and drivers.
