The Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 has aimed zero-crime incidents during the observance of the remaining days of the Holy Week, or the long holidays.

On the morning of Wednesday, April 16, 2025, a ceremonial send-off of 2,300 policemen in Central Visayas was conducted.

A Holy Mass opened the send-off ceremony of Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel.

Representatives from police stations in the city, province, and various police units attended the ceremony. However, most of the police personnel have already been deployed in churches and spots frequented by visitors during the Holy Week since Palm Sunday.

The priest blessed the police personnel.

Officials of the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office attended the ceremony, and brought along with them their equipment.

In a message, Police Brigadier General Redrico Maranan urged the police force to work diligently to achieve zero-crime incident during the observance of the remaining days of the Holy Week.

He called on his fellow policemen that aside from mere police visibility, it is important that their presence is felt strongly by the public.

Meanwhile in Talisay City, more police were in "full-blast deployment" in places where people tend to flock, especially churches.

Further, Police Lt. Col. Maila Maramag, chief of the Talisay City Police Station, met with focal persons of Barangay Anti-Drug Advisory Council (BADAC) in 22 barangays of the city.

The focal persons were urged to monitor drug surrenderers during the holiday season, in order to maintain their status as drug-cleared barangays.

Police Lt. Col. Ma. Theresa Macatangay, spokesperson of the Cebu City Police Office, assured police visibility in the city. Though the Holy Week exodus means lesser persons in the city, police are ready to thwart activities of unscrupulous individuals.

Furthermore, Brig. Gen. Maranan reminded police personnel on field to keep hydrated and take shade from the scorching sun.
