A surge in the volume of passengers at bus terminals and ports in Cebu City during the Holy Week exodus is apparent beginning afternoon on April 15, 2025.

However, a few trips of shipping lines have already been marked “fully booked" on Holy Wednesday, April 16, 2025.

These boat trips are bound for Plaridel, Misamis Occidental; Larena, Siquijor; Getafe and other parts of Bohol, and a few areas in Eastern Visayas.

The trips on Maundy Thursday, April 17, 2025, were also marked fully booked.

According to a ticketing staff, passengers secured their tickets in the past 15 days at their main office.

A traveler bound for Bohol, who spent a vacation in Cebu, was among those in the queue at noontime on April 16, 2025 in the hope of being accommodated. Two foreign nationals bound for Siquijor also waited for their turn to buy tickets, hoping against hope.

According to the Cebu Port Authority (CPA), over 137,000 passengers went through Cebu ports, both inbound and outbound from April 13, 2025 to April 15, 2025.

CPA said that they look at Holy Wednesday as the peak of the arrival of passengers, at nearly 100,000 both inbound and outbound.

Meanwhile, passengers arrival at the Cebu South Bus Terminal also started to increase by morning of Holy Wednesday.

Police reminded passengers that despite the presence of law enforcement personnel at ports and terminals, they should be more responsible for their own safety and their baggage.
