At least 38 people were injured when the jeepney they were riding tilted to its side while traversing the town of Miag-ao in Iloilo morning on Black Saturday, April 19, 2025.
The jeepney was carrying at least 60 passengers.
Initial investigation by the Miag-ao Municipal Police Station showed that the passengers were on their way to a beach resort in the town of San Joaquin. They were traveling from the town of Alimodian.
Nineteen of those hurt are minors.
The driver was among those hurt.
Investigation into the accident continues, as of this writing, but authorities are eyeing the possibility that the driver may have lost control of the vehicle while navigating a curve on the road at the boundary of Barangay Dingle and Barangay Maninila in Miag-ao.
