Authorities rescued a 23-year-old woman who swam across the sea from Davao City to Samal Island, Davao del Norte.
The woman reportedly swam from Coaco Beach in Davao City to a beach resort in Barangay Caliclic in Samal Island, covering more than 1.8 kilometers in over an hour and 30 minutes.
The Coast Guard District Southeastern Mindanao (CGSEM) said swimming across the Pakiputan Strait is prohibited.
Gonzales added that the woman could not give a clear reason for making the swim.
The woman was turned over to the City Social Service Department Office of Samal Island.
GMA Regional TV One Mindanao is reaching out to the woman for a statement, as of this writing.
