A retired Philippine Army officer died while two others were injured after their sports utility vehicle (SUV) crashed into a trailer truck on the Maharlika Highway in Barangay Putlan, Carranglan, Nueva Ecija.
The accident happened when the SUV, carrying the victims, slammed suddenly into the back of a trailer truck driven by a 48-year-old man, according to police.
The SUV’s front was damaged heavily due to the strong impact. The two injured passengers were rushed to the hospital.
Police have taken the trailer truck driver into custody and filed appropriate charges.
Authorities have yet to release statements from the victims’ families or those involved in the crash.
