The observance of the “Semana Santa” (Holy Week) in Cebu City and the rest of Central Visayas is “generally peaceful,” according to the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) despite various activities.
Police Lt. Col. Maria Theresa Macatangay, CCPO deputy city director for operations, said that no crime incidents were recorded during the said period.
The CCPO has implemented a program dubbed “Huliweek” which is described to be effective because of active participation from the public to ensure safety and security.
Meanwhile, the heightened alert hoisted by the Philippine National Police (PNP) prevails until the May 2025 midterm elections.
The PNP wants peace and order maintained during the campaign period and on to the election day.
Further, Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 disclosed that Central Visayas is generally peaceful during the observance of the Holy Week.
