A landslide in Malita, Davao Occidental triggered by heavy rains damaged and uprooted fruit trees. Among the affected fruit trees were durian, cacao, and coconut.
“Sige syag ulan unya naa may nagbalita nga naa daw nag-landslide didto so among giadto. Mao jud pag-adto namo, dagko jud kaayo landslide,” a resident, Ryan Salicala, said.
Fortunately, there are no houses in the area.
The landslide covered about half a hectare and reached a depth of 10 feet.
“Medyo layo-layo man gud ug walay balay didto sa lugar na, bukid unya wala gyuy tao didtoa,” Salicala added.
The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) is monitoring the area.
State weather bureau PAGASA said the bad weather experienced at that time was due to the easterlies.
