A Chinese national was arrested for alleged extortion done to a compatriot.

The victim sought assistance from the Mandaue City Police after he was extorted reportedly of about P200,000 by another Chinese national.

The victim was asked of the said amount in exchange for assistance and arrangement to a warrant of arrest against him.

An entrapment operation was set by personnel of the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) Station 2 based on a complaint filed on April 19, 2025 that resulted to the arrest of the suspect.

The suspect was detained at the MCPO. Charges for robbery extortion were filed against the suspect on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.

“Gipa-make believe niya nga naa na kuno ni kaso, mao na iya pagtoo, kabalo si victim nga wala siya kuno pero basin ba, unya ba og naa lain case gipasangil sa iyaha mao to sa iyang kahasol,” according to MCPO information officer, Police Lt. Col. Mercy Villaro.
