A magnitude 4.2 earthquake rocked north Cebu at 2:50 a.m. on April 22, 2025.

Its epicenter was located in the waters off the Municipality of Borbon.

Intensity 3 was felt in the Municipalities of Catmon, Borbon, and Tabogon in north Cebu, while Intensity 2 was felt in the Municipality of Carmen and Danao City, as well as in Cebu City and the Municipality of Minglanilla in south Cebu.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) further recorded a magnitude 2.5 earthquake in the waters off the Municipality of San Francisco in Camotes Island at 3 a.m.

At 5:20 a.m., another magnitude 2.5 earthquake was recorded in the waters off Borbon.

According to Robinson Jorgio, officer in charge of PHIVOLCS Visayas Cluster Monitoring Center for Earthquake and Tsunami, there are no reported damages caused by the quakes with epicenters located close to one another.
