The Land Transportation Office (LTO) 6 has issued a show cause order against four drivers who were found positive in a surprise drug test during the Holy Week.
The four drivers were found positive in a confirmatory test.
The surprise drug test was conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Western Visayas at two transportation terminals in Iloilo City on Abril 15, 2025, or during the observance of the “Semana Santa.”
LTO 6 Regional Director, Atty. Gaudioso Geduspan, in an interview with GMA Super Radyo Iloilo, confirmed of the issuance of show cause order to the drivers after they proved positive in a confirmatory test.
The drivers at a terminal in Camalig, Jaro are a taxicab driver and a tricycle driver. The other two at a terminal in Mohon, Arevalo are drivers of modernized jeepneys.
Geduspan said that revocation of the four's driver’s license is most likely.
As of posting time, the drivers are suspended from work, or from plying the streets.
Geduspan vowed more surprise drug tests by the LTO and PDEA 6 based on the “alarming results” of the surprise drug test.
