The Archdiocese of Jaro in Iloilo City and Diocese of Bacolod in Bacolod City have mourned the demise of Pope Francis.

The Archdiocese of Jaro offered Holy Mass and prayers for the eternal repose of the soul of Pope Francis.

“With profound sadness we trust with loving mercy to the Almighty God, the Father, the eternal repose of the soul of Pope Francis, our holy father,” said Rev. Fr. Michael Reeve Sogo-an, Mass presider at Jaro Metropolitan Cathedral in Iloilo City.

At the Santa Ana Parish Church in the District of Molo, aside from prayers, flowers were offered by members of the clergy and the faithful.

In his message, Jaro Archbishop Midyphil Billones called on prayers for the pontiff.

At the tolling of church bells in San Sebastian Cathedral in Bacolod City afternoon on April 21, 2024 is the mourning of the Diocese of Bacolod over the death of Pope Francis.

“Pinatunog ang kampanaryo. Una, sa panawagan sa mga tao sa pagdasal para sa kaluluwa ng Santo Papa. Pangalawa, pagpasalamat sa ipinakita niyang kabutihan,” Msgr. Ronald Quijano, rector at San Sebastian Cathedral, said.

A memorial corner is located in the church where a photograph of Pope Francis is mounted laden with flowers.

There were persons spotted to have come earlier to the church to offer prayers prior to the Holy Mass.

"Malaking tulong sa aking pananampalataya. Mas naging malakas talaga,” Mario Ferrer, who offered prayers, said.

Margie Barlita, another devotee, wished that the pontiff would be happy in his next journey, as he returns to the Lord.

"Nagpapasalamat ako sa tulong niya sa akin. Sana, maging masaya siya sa kabilang buhay. Makakaharap na niya si Hesus,” Barlita said.
