A Korean national was shot dead during a robbery in Angeles City, Pampanga on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025.

Closed circuit television (CCTV) footage from the Police Regional Office 3 showed the victim standing with a friend outside a bank around 1:50 p.m. when two men on a black motorcycle arrived.

Armed with a gun, the person riding in pillion got off and snatched a sling bag from the victim’s friend. The bag reportedly contained P5,000 cash, a cellphone, and a Korean passport.

When the two Koreans tried to get the bag back, the suspect fired. The victim was shot in the chest.

The suspects fled the scene while the victim was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

On Tuesday, April 22, South Korean Consul-General Sang Seung Man visited the crime scene in Korean Town and offered flowers.

"The bullet you fired did not only kill one man—it destroyed a family’s future. He did not fight back," a message on a nearby tarpaulin from the Korean community read.

The Korean Association Community is offering a P200,000 reward for any information leading to the suspects.

Despite the tragedy, the local government assured the safety of over 5,000 Koreans living in Angeles City.
