Weeks to the May 2025 midterm elections, an anti-vote buying desk dubbed “Kontra Bigay Desk” has been mounted in five police stations in Lapu-Lapu City.

Police have enjoined Oponganons (residents of Opon, old name of Lapu-Lapu City) to report immediately to the “Kontra Bigay Desk” at the nearest police stations any information on vote buying in barangays.

According to Police Lt. Col. Christian Torres, spokesperson of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office, they started mounting the “Kontra Bigay Desk” on April 22, 2025. This after Camp Crame issued a memorandum that ordered police stations nationwide to put up a “Kontra Bigay Desk.”

As of this writing, the Lapu-Lapu City Police in all five police stations have not received any reports yet on vote buying.
