Up to 309 police officers who will serve as members of the electoral board in high-risk areas in Lanao del Sur and Northern Mindanao have undergone training a few weeks before the 2025 midterm elections.

At least 20 towns in Lanao del Sur have been classified as areas of concern due to violence in the previous elections.

In Northern Mindanao, authorities are monitoring Lanao del Norte and Bukidnon due to the presence of the New People’s Army (NPA).

“Ang uban niini mag serve as electoral board ilabi na didto sa BARMM region nga aduna kitay i-augment nga 400 ka personnel and ang uban niini is naka standby labi na sa identified nato nga areas of concerns basin mag back-out ang nga maestra,” Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10) Spokesperson, Major Joann Navarro, said.

Meanwhile, at least 400 soldiers from Zamboanga Peninsula will also be deployed in the election areas of concern in Lanao del Sur.

During the send-off ceremony, 1st Infantry Division (1ID) commander, General Yegor Baroquillo, Jr., said there should be no failure of elections in Lanao del Sur.

Authorities are implementing tight security in the province.
