An intelligence and drug enforcement officer was shot dead by an unidentified gunman in Barangay Maningding, Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan.
The victim was identified as PSSg Renato Alvarado Jr.
The shooting happened early morning while Alvarado was riding his motorcycle.
According to initial investigation, the suspect—also on a motorcycle—fired multiple shots, hitting Alvarado in the face.
He was rushed to the hospital but died four days later.
“Masusi pa rin nating iniimbestigahan ‘yung pamamaril sa kanya. Hopefully ma-solve natin ‘yung case na iyon within a month,” PCol. Rollyfer Capoquian, Pangasinan Police Provincial Director, said.
Authorities found five empty shells of a caliber .40 firearm at the crime scene.
The gunman remains unidentified but was described as about 5’4” tall, medium build, and wearing a black jacket, pants, and helmet.
As loved ones grieve, they are calling for justice.
“Kung sino man ang gumawa, hindi naman siya makapagtatago ng matagal. Nandiyan naman mga kabaro niya na gagawa ng paraan. Sabi nga ni Hepe kahapon, ‘Huwag kang mag-alala, Mommy,’ sabi niya, ‘Gagawin namin lahat,’” Beatriz Alvarado, the victim’s mother, said.
The Philippine National Police is currently reviewing closed circuit television (CCTV) footage near the crime scene to identify the suspect and determine the motive behind the killing.
