More than 12,000 teachers will serve in the 2025 midterm elections in Davao region.

Out of the more than 12,000, more than 11,000 will serve as members of the electoral board, more than 1,000 are Department of Education (DepEd) supervising officials, and more than 100 will serve as members of the board of canvassers.

“Those who will serve in the upcoming elections are already servers of the previous elections. We can assure you the public they are equipped na,” DepEd-11 Spokesperson, Jenielito Atillo, said.

DepEd also assured that the teachers will be provided legal support should they receive threats related to the election, based on the memorandum of agreement signed by DepEd, Philippine National Police (PNP), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), and Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP).

“We are receiving a lot of reports actually even in the previous elections nga many actually went beyond propriety awayon ang electoral boards and then sultihan og dili maayo. The IBP will be supporting our teachers pertaining to legal matters,” Atillo added.

DepEd added that the honorarium for teachers who will serve in the upcoming elections has also increased – P12,000 for the chairperson, P11,000 for the poll clerk, P10,000 for the third member, and P8,000 for the support staff.

Police and military have already put security measures in place.

“Naa gyud tay naka assign for the election paraphernalia nga magbantay nga PNP personnel kay mao na atong priority para katong Mayo 12,” Davao City Police Office (DCPO) Spokesperson, Capt. Hazel Tuazon, said.

“We dedicated 18 officers, 407 enlisted personnel para makatabang sa COMELEC and PNP,” Eastern Mindanao Command (EastMinCom) Spokesperson, Lt. Col. Salvacion Evangelista, added.
