Police officers who will serve in the 2025 midterm elections in Davao and Northern Mindanao have cast their ballots during the local absentee voting (LAV) on Monday, April 28, 2025.
According to the Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao, police officers who will be deployed to the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) and other high-risk areas in Northern Mindanao to serve as members of the electoral board were prioritized.
“Nag-participate sila sa local absentee voting for the reason nga dili na gyud sila kauli sa ilang respected areas kung asa sila registered voters ang uban niini layo ang ilang deployement sa lugar kung asa sila nakarehistro even our regional director,” PRO-10 Spokesperson, Major Joann Navarro, said.
In Northern Mindanao, more than 3,000 police officers applied for LAV, but only around 2,899 were approved by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) as some applicants’ voter registrations were deactivated.
“Though we are apolitical we are non-partisan organization still aduna kitay civic responsibility sa pagpili sa mga angayan ug matarong nga lider sa nasud,” Navarro added.
Meanwhile, several police officers in Davao have also cast their ballots.
Police Regional Office-Davao (PRO-11) Spokesperson, Major Catherine Dela Rey, the three-day LAV will run until April 30, 2025.
Aside from police officers, military personnel and members of the media are also eligible to apply for LAV.
