Over 70 aftershocks were recorded, so far, after the a magnitude 5.8 earthquake hit Extreme Northern Luzon, according to PHIVOLCS.

The epicenter of the quake was traced 73 kilometers northwest of Dalupiri Island in Calayan, Cagayan, and struck at around 1:18 a.m. on April 28, 2025.

The strongest tremor, intensity 5, was felt in Calayan, while intensity 4 was recorded in Pasuquin, Bacarra, and San Nicolas in Ilocos Norte. Batac City also experienced intensity 3.

Authorities have warned residents to remain on alert as aftershocks may continue.
