Two people, including a police officer, were injured in an armed confrontation during the service of an arrest warrant in Barangay Mapantao, Bayang, Lanao del Sur.

According to the Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office (LDSPPO), the operating team was about to serve an arrest warrant against a wanted person when they engaged around 15 armed individuals in an exchange of fire.

One of the members of the operating team and the target's companion were injured during the firefight while the subject of the warrant was arrested.

Authorities said the subject of the warrant was facing murder charges and the court did not allow him to post bail. He was also listed among the top 10 most wanted persons in the Bangsamoro region.

Seized from the suspects were caliber 7.62 M14 rifle and ammunition.

“I commend this successful operation as a clear testament to PRO BAR’s unwavering commitment, hard work, and dedication in relentlessly pursuing wanted persons across the Bangsamoro region,” Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR) Director, Brigadier General Romeo Macapaz, said.
