Armed robbers targeted a pawnshop in broad daylight in Barangay Poblacion District 1, Pozorrubio, Pangasinan, taking jewelry worth over P100,000.

The suspects arrived on motorcycles at past 2 p.m. One of them got off and tried to open the door, but it was locked.

“Naka-lock yung pinto. Hindi niya mabuksan. Pinutukan niya, hanggang sa mabasag ang salamin. Dun na sila pumasok,” the security guard shared.

No customers were inside at that time. The suspects pointed their guns at the guard and forced him to the ground, while two employees ran to hide.

The group quickly took various pieces of jewelry and fled. Police responded and chased them, leading to a brief shootout.

No civilians were injured, but a stray bullet hit a tricycle parked nearby.

“Tumakbo kami. Nakaparada lang itong motor ko. Bigla na lang nagkabarilan kaya nagtakbuhan kami,” Raffy Viloria, the tricycle driver, said.

Police said four suspects rode two motorcycles. They later abandoned the vehicles in Sitio Linmansangan. Bloodstains found at the scene suggest one suspect may have been shot.

“We are still looking for other pieces of evidence. So far, ongoing pa rin yung investigation natin,” PMAJ Jordan Tomas, Chief of Pozorrubio Police, said.

Authorities also recovered a gun and several spent shells, which have been sent to the crime lab.

The Pangasinan Police Provincial Office confirmed in a press statement that a hot pursuit operation is ongoing to catch the suspects.

As of writing, the pawnshop remains closed while police continue their investigation inside.
