A traffic police officer in Sto. Tomas, Pampanga ended up in the hospital after a van hit him while he was managing traffic in Barangay San Matias.
Based on police investigation, the officer from the Sto. Tomas Police Station was directing traffic when a white L300 van hit him suddenly.
The vehicle did not stop.
Authorities believe the van's driver may have been drowsy or the vehicle's brakes may have failed.
“Either inaantok ‘yung driver, madaling araw kasi iyon, eh. Posibleng inaantok o mahina ang preno rin,” PMaj. Zingalawa Narciso, Sto. Tomas Police Chief, said.
Rescuers rushed the officer to a nearby hospital. He is now in stable condition.
While both parties have yet to release official statements, police said the incident was already settled between them.
