Thousands of people are expected to flock to Tondaligan Beach in Dagupan City for the Pista’y Dayat celebration, and police assured the public that safety measures are in place.
The Dagupan City Police will deploy 75 police officers to the beach on the day of the event.
They will be assisted by the Philippine Coast Guard, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), PNP Maritime Group, and over 100 force multipliers.
Lifeguards also reminded beachgoers to follow safety rules to avoid drowning incidents.
“Nakikiusap po kamo sa bisita, beachgoers na every 5 p.m., nagpapaaahon na kami ng maliligo. Bawal maligo pag gabi lalo na kung nakainom,” Ella Oribello, chief lifeguard of Tondaligan Beach Park, said.
At least 14 lifeguards will be stationed across six watchtowers along the beach.
Authorities have also ordered shed owners not to sell alcoholic drinks to beach visitors to help keep the area safe.
