The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has placed at least 15 areas in Central Visayas under the “Yellow” category, as approved by the Regional Joint Security Control Center after an assessment.
The areas are Cebu City, Mandaue City, Municipality of Daanbantayan, Municipality of Argao, Municipality of Balamban, Municipality of San Fernando, Municipality of Dalaguete, and Municipality of Dumanjug in Cebu; and Tagbilaran City, Municipality of San Miguel, Municipality of Buenavista, Municipality of Trinidad, Municipality of Ubay, Municipality of Inabanga, and Municipality of Tubigon in Bohol.
Under the COMELEC color-coding scheme, Yellow means that an area has "history of political unrest."
COMELEC Central Visayas Regional Director, Atty. Francisco Pobe, said that the Yellow category does not mean of an alarming situation, though.
He said that the goal in placing the said areas under the Yellow category is to help augment security requirement and deployment of troops for the May 12, 2025 National and Local Elections.
