Residents rescued a Philippine eagle after it got trapped in a fishpond net in Ballesteros, Cagayan.

The bird was found in Barangay Nararagan, when a family visiting their fishpond spotted the eagle caught in a nylon trap they had placed to protect the area.

They carefully removed the eagle, placed it in a chicken cage for safety, and contacted the local Animal Breeding Station to surrender the bird.

The eagle had no injuries and is now in good condition.

Authorities plan to release it back into its natural habitat soon.
