An incumbent barangay councilman in Surallah, South Cotabato was arrested for alleged six counts of statutory rape.
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested the man by virtue of a warrant issued by a court in South Cotabato on April 7, 2025.
The man was listed as number eight most wanted person in the province and number four in the town.
CIDG said the suspect and four others allegedly abused a 12-year-old girl sexually several times.
“I commend the CIDG South Cotabato Provincial Field Unit and other joint operating units for the immediate capture of the accused. We cannot allow an alleged rapist roam around freely. With this arrest, we helped the victim and her family attain the justice they deserved,” CIDG Director, Major General Nicolas Torre III, said.
