Davao del Norte First District Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez is offering a P1 million reward for information that can lead to the arrest of the mastermind and the suspect who shot a candidate for board member in the province.

Audrie Perez, a candidate for board member and Alvarez’ executive assistant, was injured after he was shot near a church in Barangay Magugpo North, Tagum City evening on Tuesday, April 29, 2025.

Based on investigation, a witness saw the gunman on board a motorcycle wearing a jacket and a ball cap. He escaped after the shooting.

Perez is recuperating in the hospital.

Police Regional Office-Davao (PRO-11) welcomed the monetary reward, saying it would aid the investigation.

“Malaking tulong po ito, at syempre ang mga tipster po diyan na makapagbigay ng magandang information at maba-validate po ito, maaring makatulong na mabilis ma-solve natin ‘yung crime nato,” PRO-11 Director, Brigadier General Leon Victor Rosete, said.

Investigators are looking into politics or personal grudge as possible motive in the shooting.

“Nakausap na namin si Audrie. Wala siyang naalala na meron siyang mga kaaway o mga kaalitan,” Rosete added.

A special investigation task group (SITG) has also been formed to handle the case.

“Nagpagawa na po kami ng SITG natin to oversee the investigation of this incident,” Rosete said.

PRO-11 said the incident was an isolated case and no additional police deployment will be made in the province, as of this writing.

However, PRO-11 is ready to deploy personnel should the police provincial director request for additional manpower.
