Dengue infections in Region 1 have more than doubled compared in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024.
The Department of Health is urging the public to stay alert and keep their surroundings clean.
From January 1 to April 5, 2025, the Center for Health Development (CHD) Region 1 recorded 1,830 dengue cases. This is 161 percent higher than the 701 cases recorded during the same period in 2024.
Most of these cases are from Pangasinan with 828 infections, while Dagupan City logged 86 cases.
Despite the rise, health authorities are hopeful the numbers will go down as the hot season continues.
“Kung ikukumpara natin ‘yung cases natin from the previous week mayroon nang pagbaba doon sa mga kaso natin,” Dr. Rheuel Bobis, spokesperson of CHD-1, said.
Residents like Janet Ramos are also doing their part.
“Talagang dapat malinis ang bahay kapaligiran, mahalaga ‘yun ngayon,” Ramos said.
CHD-1 reminded the public to watch out for common dengue symptoms like high fever, severe headache, pain behind the eyes, muscle and joint pain, dizziness, vomiting, swollen lymph nodes, and rashes.
Authorities advise the public to seek medical help immediately if symptoms appear and to clean their surroundings regularly to stop mosquito breeding.
