A security guard of a steel company in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental was arrested after he allegedly shot dead a 23-year-old man who entered the company’s compound.

Based on investigation, the victim and his companion were inside the premises of the company when the guard shot them.

The victim was hit on the right side of his body. His companion was unharmed.

Authorities have yet to determine why the two were inside the compound.

“While ang victim ug ang witness naa siya sa dalan sa seaport sulod siya sa steel company and then allegedly base sa report gipusil sila sa maong duty guard nga naa didto ug ang biktima naigo sa iyang tuo nga bahin sa iyang ribs,” Misamis Oriental Police Provincial Office Spokesperson, Capt. Geraldine Botanas, said.

The suspect turned himself in to authorities later.

Authorities also recovered the suspect’s shotgun.

The guard reportedly accused the two of attempting a robbery, but no robbery case was reported to the police.

“Naghulat pud ang kapulisan kung aduna ba sila’y nabuhat nga incident report tung mga security guard but then wala pud na-record sa ilaha nga naa’y nahitabo nga ingon adto,” Botanas added.

GMA Regional TV One Mindanao is reaching out to the suspect for comment, as of this writing.

The suspect is facing homicide charges.

“Before gyud unta ta magbuhat sa atong aksyon ato sa gyud i-sure ang mga panghitabo ayha dayun ta sakto nga buhaton nato isip usa ka trabahante,” Botanas said.
