Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 has placed five towns in the Province of Iloilo under “special concern” for the National and Local Elections (NLE) on Monday, May 12, 2025.

The towns are Ajuy, Sara, Estancia, Concepcion, and San Dionisio, according to Police Brigadier General Jack Wanky, PRO 6 regional diretor, in a press conference at Camp Delgado on Tuesday, May 6, 2025.

Wanky said that the five areas are placed under “special concern” for intense political rivalry in the past elections where there were reported incidents of deaths.

Aside from Iloilo, there are towns in the 1st District of Capiz Province placed under “special concern” because of a history of political unrest. However, PRO 6 is yet to disclose these municipalities.

As of this writing, PRO 6 has not recorded any election-related incident yet, aside from the Juan Dayang slay in Kalibo town, Province of Aklan.

The murder of the former Kalibo mayor and veteran journalist has been considered by PRO 6 as a possible election-related incident based on the investigation by the authorities.
