A 41-year-old piggery owner died after he allegedly fell into a well under construction while trying to save a worker in Barangay Pangyan, Davao City.
The worker reportedly lost consciousness after inhaling a foul smell from beneath the ground.
According to a report by GMA Super Radyo Davao, the piggery owner hired several workers to work on the well, which was around 27 feet deep.
Police said one of the workers went down into the well to begin his work. While descending, he reportedly smelled a foul odor, lost consciousness, and fell.
The owner went down to rescue the worker by tying a rope to the latter’s body. However, he also lost consciousness and fell.
Other workers managed to pull the rope with the unconscious worker, but the owner remained trapped inside.
Authorities retrieved the body of the owner later.
